Rights do not come from government. They cannot. If government is established to defend rights ( a dubious claim indeed considering that government is a systematic rights violator) then those rights are logically prior to government. This principle is actually explicitly spelled out in the Declaration of Independence. So if rights are real, then they do not come from government. They are prior to government and government is a systematic violator of them. If there are no rights, then there is no point to government since government claims to be a defender of rights. So government is either pointless or evil.Mike Peinovich
